Who Runs This Directory
The Keystone started back in 2015 as a project documenting our own home improvement work. Over the years, as we tackled everything from masonry repairs to concrete restoration on our Boston-area property, we kept careful notes on who we worked with, what worked, and what didn’t. Friends and neighbors started asking for recommendations — and we realized that the lessons we’d learned could help others make smarter decisions about hiring contractors and restoration specialists in our community.
What started as a personal notebook became a directory. We’re still the same people evaluating each business, still bringing years of hands-on project experience to every decision about who makes it onto The Keystone’s list. We have no agenda other than pointing homeowners and property managers toward people who do honest, professional work.
Our Standards, Stated Plainly
Every business on The Keystone meets four core standards. If they don’t, they don’t get listed.
Professional & Licensed
We verify that contractors hold current, valid licenses and certifications for their trade. For masonry and concrete work, that means proper state licensing, insurance, and a real track record of projects — not just a website.
Quality Work
We follow their work over time. Repointing that lasts, mortar that matches, concrete that doesn’t crack. We look for businesses that take pride in their craftsmanship and understand that a job done right today saves money and headaches years from now.
